日本語のダンスミュージック・プロジェクト「YAMATARO」。
「ひとつの言葉（＝one word）」だけを出発点に楽曲を構築する。モチーフは「正四面体」「カニ」「イデア」「閻魔大王」——奇想天外で、多種多様。
サウンドは90年代後半のハウスを土台に、ミニマルな構成、粗い質感、うねるグルーヴを特徴とし、そこにユニークな日本語が融合する。
メンバーは異色の3人。20年を越すフジロッカーであり、東京でおにぎり専門店を営むDa-yama。元芸人として独自の視点で言葉を操るDa-maru。そして、映画監督・脚本家として映像世界を紡ぐDa-guchi。
ユーモアと音楽が重なり合うスタイルで、毎月第一金曜日に新曲を届けていく。
YAMATARO is a Japanese-language dance music project.
Every track is built from a single word — one word, nothing more. The motifs range from "regular tetrahedron" and "crab" to "idea" and "Enma, King of Hell": unexpected, and endlessly varied.
Rooted in late-'90s house, the sound is defined by minimal structures, raw textures and rolling grooves, fused with the singular sonority of the Japanese language.
The project is three unlikely members: Da-yama, a Fuji Rock regular of more than twenty years who runs an onigiri shop in Tokyo; Da-maru, a former comedian who bends words from his own peculiar angle; and Da-guchi, a film director and screenwriter who weaves cinematic worlds.
